“The future is already here, it’s just not that well distributed.” That was the main message in Bill Buxton’s talk at the UX Day recently held at Microsoft.

He showed us a wonderful gadget he had bought in the 70s. A Casio watch that doubled as a calculator and not just any calculator. The numbers had to be written on the dial and the watch would show you the computed answer on a small lcd screen. The message was inspiring. Buxton has a collection of gadgets collected over the years. Check out the collection here:  The Buxton Collection. It’s almost like a museum of user experience, showing how things have evolved to the present day. It’s worth a visit by any designer looking for inspiration. I was delighted to see the early Palmtops feature in this list as I have two in my own small collection.
